Happy New Year to everyone, we hope you had a great break, even if you only had a short one.
If you haven’t already made a New Years Resolution I have one for you.
“Make technology work for you in 2008”
If you are forever cursing shortcomings in your IT System, fix them. If you feel like you are a slave to technology, switch roles, it should be the opposite.
One of the first things you can do in 2008 is get rid of all that SPAM that you have to wade through everyday. A product called MailGuard makes it easy and cheap to do. More on that topic later.
Already in 2008 Apple have the rest of the computer world aghast with the release of the super slim MacBook Air. More about that to come.
From the Team at Crunch IT we wish you all the best in 2008 and don't forget to make that New Years Resolution.

MacBook Air - the world's thinnest notebook |
Apple has unveiled MacBook Air, the world's thinnest notebook. MacBook Air measures an unprecedented 0.4 centimeters at its thinnest point, while its maximum height of 1.9 centimeters is less than the thinnest point on competing notebooks. MacBook Air has a stunning 13.3-inch LED-backlit widescreen display, a full-size and backlit keyboard and built-in iSight video camera for video conferencing. MacBook Air is powered by a 1.6 GHz or 1.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 4MB L2 cache, and includes as standard 2GB of memory, an 80GB 1.8-inch hard drive, the latest 802.11n Wi-Fi technology and Bluetooth 2.1.
"We've built the world's thinnest notebook – without sacrificing a full-size keyboard or a full-size 13-inch display", said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO. "When you first see MacBook Air, it's hard to believe it's a high-performance notebook with a full-size keyboard and display. But it is."

Whilst the MacBook Air won't suit every user due to lack of Ethernet and FireWire ports, these shouldn't immediately discount it from consideration. Remember when the first laptops without floppy drives were released, it was the end of the world as we knew it. But it wasn't!

Can you lose all your data? |
|
If one of our skilled technicians hasn’t assessed you current backup regime then quite possibly you can. It still frustrates me to learn that people have lost all their data because they didn’t have an adequate backup system in place or incorrectly thought that key data was being backed up.
With Apple's release of Time Capsule combined with the low cost of hard drives and tape systems there is no reason not to ensure all your important data is properly backed up. And this isn't just limited to all your work data. What about the hundreds or now probably thousands of family photos you have sitting on your computer? Are they backed up regularly? How popular would you be if all the Christmas Holiday photos disappeared?
If you want to discuss your backup systems please contact us now.

Planet Ark, working with participating Australia Post and Officeworks outlets, provide a facility to leave empty inkjet and toner cartridges. Contact your local Post Office or Officeworks store before taking your empty cartridges to them.
